DENTAL IMPLANTS

They recommend dental implants as an alternative for replacement of missing teeth, fixed bridges, partials and holding dentures in place. Dental implants are titanium fixtures that are surgically screwed into the jaw bone and are used to anchor natural-looking false teeth. Since the bone grows around the implant the result is a smile that not only looks completely natural, but one that feels and functions more like your own teeth. Because dental implants are patterned after the structure of your natural teeth, they provide a highly stable support system for the replacement teeth or dentures. Other benefits include:

  • Improved biting pressure. Healthy teeth are able to absorb over 500 pounds of biting pressure per square inch. If you have worn dentures for a long time, that pressure may be diminished significantly, to one-tenth that of natural teeth. Dental implants can often restore the amount of pressure that can be withstood to nearly the same level of healthy natural teeth.
  • Comfort and fit. Because your replacement teeth are anchored securely to the implants in your jawbone, they can't slip and slide like unsecured dentures can. When dentures are not secure enough, they often cause sores in the mouth and an annoying clicking sound. Dental implants eliminate these problems.
  • Longevity and reliability. With proper oral hygiene and care, scientifically tested and approved dental implant systems have been shown to last as long as 20 years or more with few complications.
  • Increased self-confidence. Because dental implants function remarkably like natural teeth, most people who get them experience a renewed sense of self-confidence once they realize they can again chew, talk, laugh and smile with confidence.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY

Your smile communicates a lot about how you feel about yourself. Even a minor flaw in your smile can keep you from feeling your best about the way you look. In the past, we had few options to improve teeth that were chipped, stained or crooked. However, now a wide range of cosmetic dental techniques can benefit almost any smile. Cosmetic dentistry is a blending of art and science. With a focus on esthetic results and using a variety of the latest restorative techniques and materials, we can enhance your smile to give it a more pleasing appearance. Color, size and shape, all of these things can affect how your teeth and smile look and have a big impact on how you feel about yourself. Having cosmetic dentistry procedures done can greatly improve how you feel about yourself and make a profound difference in your life.

PERIODONTAL TREATMENT

Periodontal disease, or simply gum disease, is the single most common cause of tooth loss in adults. This inflammatory disease attacks the gums, bone and other supporting structures of the teeth.Gum disease is caused by plaque, a colorless film of bacteria that forms on the teeth. Plaque mixes with sugars and starches in the diet to form acids and other by-products in the mouth, irritating the gums and causing them to become red, tender and swollen. It also causes the gums to bleed easily. If not removed daily, plaque hardens to form calculus (tartar) around the necks of the teeth. The tissue that attaches the gums to the teeth can be destroyed by the irritants in plaque. The gums pull away from the teeth and small pockets form between the teeth and gums. These pockets become filled with more plaque. As the pockets deepen, it becomes impossible for you to clean the plaque out. Eventually, the bone structure supporting the teeth can be destroyed.

ORTHODONTICS

Orthodontics involves the use of corrective appliances, including braces and retainers, to straighten crooked teeth and/or repair an irregular bite. Orthodontic treatment has gone from something reserved for children and teenagers to an option for adults with cosmetic and functional dental issues. Orthodontists align teeth with braces by applying constant pressure in a desired direction. The pressure is adjusted at prescribed intervals over the course of the orthodontic treatment.

MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is surgery to correct a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are trained to treat problems such as the extraction of wisdom teeth, misaligned jaws, tumors and cysts of the jaw and mouth, and to perform dental implant surgery. The scope of this specialty is extensive and concerns the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the oral (mouth) and maxillofacial (face and neck) regions, including the following:

  • Oral and Dentoalveolar Surgery. (removal of impacted and buried teeth, cysts, etc.).
  • Preprosthetic Surgery. (bone augmentation).
  • Dental Implant. surgery and associated bone grafting (to replace missing teeth or stabilise dentures; rehabilitation of patients having undergone surgery for tumours; to retain facial prostheses).
  • Orthognatic Surgery. (dentofacial deformities).
  • Facial Trauma Surgery. (facial bone fractures and injuries).
  • Surgery of Odontogenic and non-odontogenic Tumors.
  • Reconstructive Surgery.
  • Cleft lip and palete Surgery.
  • Congenital craniofacial deformities.
  • Facial Plastic Surgery. (rhinoplasty, rhytidectomy, blepharoplasty, facial implants, etc.).
  • Temporomandibular joint disorder.

ENDODONTICS

Endodontics is a specialty of dentistry, that deals with the tooth pulp and tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. The pulp (containing nerves, arterioles and venules as well as lymphatic tissue and fibrous tissue) can become diseased or injured and thus is unable to repair itself. The pulp then dies and endodontic treatment is required, the most common procedure done in endodontics is root-canal therapy, which involves the removal of diseased pulp tissue. The aim of treatment is to remove irreversibly inflamed, or necrotic pulp tissue before infection sets in. If the pulp tissue becomes infected, caused by bacteria from inside the tooth, the infection can leak out of the tooth's root and make the surrounding bone ill and painful or cause an abscess to form.

RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY

Restorative Dentistry will restore large cavities, replace lost teeth, support remaining teeth and help you maintain optimum dental health. If you're faced with tooth loss, Restorative dentistry may be the right option for you. This long-term solution can help prevent the cycle of problems that can occur when just one tooth is missing, such as shifting of the remaining teeth, decay, periodontal disease and bone loss. Many people postpone going to the dentist out of fear, preferring to live with excruciating mouth pain rather than face whatever unknown horrors lie ahead at the dentist’s office. For decades, dentistry has been stereotyped as the branch of medicine in which the cure is more frightening than the disease, itself. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Due to the continuing evolution of modern dentistry, there are more options for safe, quick, and relatively pain-free treatment of serious dental problems than ever before. Recovery time and post-procedural discomfort have been dramatically reduced over the years, meaning that in most cases you will be able to resume normal activity almost immediately.
